NCAA 12 to include improved zone defense

 

The NCAA Football 12 development team made game-play improvement a top priority this year. One new feature is improved zone defense. One common problem year to year is that defenders had no thoughts of their own. If they were in a zone they ran into the zone area and that’s it. For example, if the offense ran a bootleg left and had all the receivers running routes to the left, if there was a defender in zone protection on the right, he’d stay put. Effectively guarding no one. Ben Haumiller talks about the improvement to the defensive AI:

Ben said that this is something that the fans have been asking for over and over. It’s nice to see an EA Sports development team listening to the community input to help improve their game.
