PLAY—PA PUMP AND GOPLAYBOOK SYRACUSEFORMATION–SB SNUGSThe PA PUMP AND GO is a very big part of my offense when using the SAINTS book in MADDEN, and the SYRACUSE book with NCAA. Not only do you have an excellent play here, you are running it out of one of the best formations in the game, SB SNUGS. Not many people know that this little formation is equipped with a very unique blocking system used by the sole back.
Its called POWER BLOCKING and it works big time taking care of Nanos and A Gap heat. I will include in the description of this play a quick overview of this blocking that can be utilized in all of the plays in SB SNUGS.PA PUMP AND GO embarrasses man coverage. People who know me and who have played me online have seen this little gem in action. The out and up move by the “B” WR is not only effective but is also unbumpable.
I run this play with Michael Floyd and I almost feel sorry for the defense. He will leave the defender bewildered as he did twice last night against FLORIDA and ALABAMA in 2 unranked games where both times he scored from 50 yds out.I always have this play in my regular audibles and when I see the match up man coverage I want I will check to this play.Another nice tip is the fact that in SB SNUGS you can flip any play without moving a sole and without the defense knowing any better. So if I see cover 1 and my human opponent is using the safety to a particular side I just flip the play and run it with my other WR and use the same setup as normal. I have used this play vs zone but it is man coverage that this play really excels in. Also, there are to many other nice options for zone coverage with this formation. I have at times ran this formation the entire game, solid as you can get. Before I go into the setup for this play I want to briefly describe the POWER BLOCKING by the back. This will be brief, so much more can be done with this but here go.POWER BLOCKING FROM SB SNUGSThe back is aligned directly behind the QB. No matter what he is doing pre snap you want to block him right or left and then motion him away from the side you are blocking. He will line up either right or left of the qb but will remain in the backfield. By blocking him to one side and motioning him to the other you have employed power blocking because he will now step up very hard A GAP and will block any defenders trying to penetrate, and does a damn good job I might add. Now if you block him one way and motion him on the same side of the block he will just block normally and pickup anyone outside in. It is when you block him one way and then motion him opposite of the side you are blocking, that is when you get that hard A GAP fill, and it is very good, believe me! Lets use a quick example of power blocking from SNUGS.
Lets say you feel an A GAP Nano or heat coming left A GAP (Looking at tv screen) what you would do to pick this up is first you must apply blocking to the back to get him off of a route or blue or whatever, in this case we would block him left. Then we would motion him to the right of the QB. At the snap of the ball watch how he comes hard to the opposite side, in this case to his left just as you applied when hot routing him to block. With this system you can apply other receivers that are using blue routes in a specific play, or you could use maximum coverage to compliment the POWER BLOCKING SYSTEM.PA PUMP AND GOB Out and UP–place your fastest player here, this is the man this play is made for and it works damn good. VS ZONE I usually check to another playin this great formation but if you want to stay with it then SLANT OUT.A–Flat route and the reason for B being bumped, nice check down. VS ZONE put on streak in conjunction with B’S SLANT OUT.Y BLUE ROUTE, nice vs zone and we will leave as is with conjunction to B and A’S route vs zone.
If I am feeling very heavy pressure I sometimes keep Y into block, works very well with LB’s Power block for great protection.X Corner Route, very nice to go to when you see your opponent trying to user against the out and up, single coverage here, nice odds. You can also do as I do sometimes and bring him across on a shallow to the side of the out and up for another option.LB POWER BLOCK, probably the most important person on this play, remember its protection first and if you apply him like I described using the power block you will have a very enjoyable play and a very PISSED of defense!QB-YOU!–It is very important as with any pass play to allow the CPU to complete your QB’S drop so he is not throwing off his back foot, this applies to the video game even bigger than real life lol! SERIOUSLY!You may have to throw early, but your protection should be fine if you apply everything we talked about from a protection stand point. Just lead pass after the receiver begins to break hard up field. Its hard to describe because every situation is different so take this play in the lab, you will have a blast! I promise you that no other play brings an honry smile to ones gace like this play does, kind of sneaky lol!
